My work is based around the notion of the domestic setting and the paraphernalia occasioned within these spaces. I try to capture an object as a memory rather than trying to document it. I have worked closely in my grandparents house and have tried to photograph the interior spaces the way I remember them being rather than the way they are today. I am interested in the passing of time and how human interaction within the domestic setting builds up layers of history ultimately changing the appearance of the space. This has led me to recreate domestic spaces in a studio setting to see if I can evoke to same kind of memories as I get when visiting a familiar and much loved location. |
