Something so massive and something so small, something done without a moments thought, but with such care and attention. Yet it all means the same, all carries the same significance. The small symbols of faith, the 'nicec' which is Maltese for shrine, inhabits every corner of the island, over time these symbols of religious devotion have become embedded into the very scenery and culture of Malta. This work focuses on documenting various declarations of faith made by the local community on the island of Malta. I became intrigued by the nicec erected in spaces people inhabit in their everyday working lives. I want to celebrate the grande and simple gestures made both as public and private acts of religious devotion.
