WAITING ROOMS

limbo: a region on the border of hell /an intermediate state or condition of awaiting a decision / a state of neglect or oblivion

purgatory: a place or state of temporary suffering or expiation

These are spaces, where, on the surface, nothing of consequence has occured. The act of waiting is opposed to doing. Waiting is an activity that is never consciously chosen.

It is a state of non-time, non-place and non-being, a state that never suggests success, but (on a psychological level at least) rejection / inadequacy and second best, subservient to the thing that is being waited for.
