This work revolves around the process of cataloguing and archiving, in this case the contents of Room 113.

Until September 2002 room 113 had been the staff office. As such it represented the authority of the university and also the unknown, as it was a room I felt we were not allowed to enter unless invited to do so. Now the room is a studio space for the photography course but more noticeably it is used as a dumping ground for the things collected by previous years that we are too afraid to throw away. It is for these reasons that I chose this particular space.

The process is very methodical and involves a systematic cataloguing, in writing, using materials I find in the room. It has become almost a performance piece with the act of archiving becoming as important as the way in which I will ultimately present the work and the reasons behind it.

It was important for me not to represent the space photographically. These images are simply a documentation of the process and nothing more.
