Portobello, August 2002 My work is a personal engagement with notions of identity, culture and boundaries and explores how these are contained within the land. I understand landscape as a dynamic rather than static phenomenon, a place of fluidity, transience, memory and historical presence. The land is a text, selected and constructed by society, an expression of cultural, social, political and even religious identities, with great historical and social significance.
