My images represent psychological spaces that allow for contemplation and meditation. As the mind is allowed to dream, flow and conjure, the unconscious can emerge bringing up creative ideas and insights into the nature of existence. There is a ‘space’ referred to in Buddhist texts as the bardot or ‘inbetween’ space. It is here that all things can be realised in their fullness. Such bardots are found in sleep, meditation, at birth, death and in the awareness of suffering. One is advised to reside in these spaces to ‘learn’ and transcend fixed states and craving for things. The photograph is a porthole for reflection, awareness and emotion, which can waken us up to create.
