My images explore the idea of fairytales and identity. As children we are regaled with tales of mythical lands, where good is in a constant battle with evil, and right prevails against wrong. Within these fables there are the heroic princes, the damsels in distress and never far from the page are the malevolent older women.
These fairytales help lay the foundation of our moral ideologies, and whilst some of these ideologies are positive influences, others play a part in identifying the expected roles of men and women, roles which can still be observed in society today.
I look at challenging these one dimensional identities and portray familiar fairytale characters in a very unconventional light.
