Intimate Photography
My work explores the issues surrounding intimate, personal and domestic images. My intention is to create an image or a set of images that capture the emotional and social experience of my subjects, and in turn, an image that is almost an extension of myself, of who I am socially, politically and emotionally. In doing so, my photographs are taken from my life, the lives of those who share my life and the interaction between us.
Using social portraiture and more recently still life and urban landscape, I attempt to portray social experience and personal emotion by producing images that have evolved through a range of emotional, social, political, sexual and cultural experience of both the subject and the photographic artist. My work is not objective it is both autobiographical and subjective. I am intimately involved with the images I create, never standing back, never simply observing. They are part of who I am.
